A workshop on the New York State Farmland Protection Program and Purchase of Development Rights (PDR)
The American Farmland Trust, with special thanks to the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets for their support, will be presenting a workshop on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at 7:00 pm at the Ellicottville Memorial Library, 6499 Maples Road, Ellicottville, New York. The workshop is for farmers, farm landowners, public officials, town planning board members and others interested in farmland protection. The New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Farmland Protection Grants Program is a funding source for the Purchase of Development Rights on farmland.
Workshop attendees will learn about the application process – who should apply, how to apply, the partnership between landowner-municipality-land trust, what makes a good project, application, and timelines. An example of a successfully funded project in Erie County will be presented.
The Cattaraugus County Agricultural and Farmland Protection Board encourages anyone interested in farmland protection to attend and learn more about Purchase of Development Rights.
