Water & Sewage Utilities

Safe drinking water supplies and proper sewage disposal are of great importance to public health worldwide.  Proper construction and maintenance of these systems is the first line of defense against the spread of disease.  In Cattaraugus County, the Environmental Health Division is responsible for enforcement of state and federal water and sewage disposal regulations as well as the monitoring of public water supplies.  We also provide information and technical assistance to residents who have concerns about their water, or sewage disposal. Pistol Permit

The sheriff's office pistol permit clerk is open for business Monday through Friday 8:30am - 4:00pm.  The pistol permit clerk is located at 301 Court Street in Little Valley.

As of January 1, 2012

A pistol permit application MUST be purchased from the clerk for $10.00.

Additional Requirements for Food Service Establishments with On-site Utilities

If your Food Service Establishment will be served by on-site water and/or sewage utilities (not connected to a municipal supply), additional Sanitary Code requirements must be met before you can obtain a permit.  Below is a fact sheet concerning these requirements and instructions on how to proceed.

Private Sewage Disposal Systems

Sewage disposal systems in Cattaraugus County are regulated by the Environmental Health Division in accordance with NYS standards and specifications in effect at the time of their construction.  Existing sewage disposal systems that do not meet current standards are allowed to be operated until they fail and are in need of full or partial replacement.
