Al BernsteinAlan Bernstein was County Clerk to the Cattaraugus County Clerk's Office from the autumn of 2015 to 2022. After 24 years serving as Deputy County Clerk, he was elected to the top job in the fall of 2015. Al served in the Clerk's Office for 30 years (see Bernstein to step down as Cattaraugus County Clerk - Olean Times Herald).

A lifelong resident of Cattaraugus County, Al grew up in Portville and now lives in Olean with his wife Paula Fidurko Bernstein. He has five children and five grandchildren.

With parents who were active in the community and in politics, he was exposed to public life at an early age. Al is active in community theater, high school drama clubs, and area youth programs. He volunteers and lends support for countless causes throughout the county.

Al is a brother of the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity, and has a degree in computer science and business administration.

He was a member of the New York State Association of County Clerks and served on the organization's legislative committee and best practices committee.

Al enjoys - with varying degrees of success - hunting, fishing, golfing and gardening.
