Beginning in January 2020, the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services will begin using automated telephone calls and text messages to reach out to clients.

Applicants and recipients of the Medicaid, Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF), Daycare, Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) may receive automated telephone calls and/or text messages to alert them to information regarding their pending application or active cases.

On December 12, 2019, community members in Randolph rallied around the Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging to help assemble 1,800 blizzard bag meals for homebound older adults throughout the county. “Blizzard bags” are bags containing three shelf-stable meals for homebound older adults to use when Meals on Wheels cannot be delivered due to bad weather.
