The Legislature of Cattaraugus County will meet in adjourned session at the County Center, Little Valley, New York, on Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at 4:00 PM in the Legislative Chambers, 303 Court Street, Little Valley, New York,  for the transaction of such business as may properly come before the meeting.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office is warning area residents of a scam that has been circulating.

The Sheriff's Office said that several residents have reported receiving a letter in the mail from "DotService.com" regarding Department of Transportation (DOT) numbers.

The letter informs recipients that their DOT number is past due and they need to complete their "Biennial Update" or else have their DOT number deactivated and face a civil penalty of $1,000 per day, up to $10,000.

The Aging Mastery Program(r) (AMP) was developed by the National Council on Aging (NCOA) and has been successful at helping older adults build their own playbook for aging well.

The Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging is now offering the Aging Mastery Program(r) in OLEAN, NY.

The Aging Mastery Program(r) is a 10 session course for people 55 years or older. The course features ten classes to address individual concerns regarding medications, health & wellness, legal planning, financial fitness, insurance, relationships, sleep issues, and more.

With professional guest speakers, class participants are able to consult with experts in developing plans for the future and living a fuller life now.

The Alzheimer's Association Western New York Chapter will oversee a three-year, $4.5 million dollar grant from the New York State Department of Health to expand dementia caregiving initiatives across seven counties. The Chapter will collaborate with Office for the Aging (OFA) partners in Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Niagara and Wyoming counties on the Alzheimer's Disease Caregiver Support Initiative(CSI), which will provide funds for support services for dementia caregivers.

Little Valley, NY - Sheriff Timothy S. Whitcomb announces job opportunities at the County Jail as a Part-Time Correction Officer. The job responsibilities include guarding and attending to the care, well-being and discipline of jail inmates.

If accepted, 7 weeks of field training are required as well as successful completion of a Corrections Academy. Applicants MUST have availability to perform shift work, various shifts including weekends and holidays, and have flexible hours.  The rate of pay is $16.50 per hour
