ATTENTION LANDLORDS AND TENANTS

If you are a tenant who owes back rent due to conditions created by COVID-19 or are a landlord who is owed rent, the Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) may be able to help.

As we prepare for the start of ERAP, information about this state-run benefit program has begun to trickle in.

Below is a summary of information provided to social service districts to date. It is our strong recommendation that you review the documents needed to apply for funding and encourage tenants who may be eligible to do the same. When the portal opens to access this program, eligibility and priority will drive the disbursement of funding. When the funding is gone, the program will end. We are working with our partners at Cattaraugus Community Action to assist renters with technology barriers in the application process. This will help many area residents, but nothing will be more beneficial than landlords partnering with tenants.

As we wait for the New York State portal to open, please consider collecting the items needed for application processing.

For questions or information about the program, we have established an email address for landlords or tenants. The address is ERAP@CattCo.org. Please leave appropriate contact information with any questions submitted.

Please watch the Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services website for a link to the state portal when it opens.
