The Case for Meals on Wheels: New study confirms Meals on Wheels as an evidence-supported, cost-effective solution

The Cattaraugus County Department of the Aging’s Senior Wellness and Nutrition Program needs your help. If you have just one hour, once a week that you can give to your community, you will help us keep a homebound senior citizen safe and fed! We are currently looking for volunteers in the Delevan area.

Meals on Wheels are delivered before noon Monday through Friday. Most volunteers deliver about 15 meals once a week and it takes approximately one hour to complete a route. We can provide you with mileage reimbursement, as well.

The purpose of the Senior Wellness & Nutrition Program is to maintain independence, delay or prevent nursing home placement, and improve or maintain current health status of the home-bound participants. Help us to keep your elderly neighbors independent and in their homes. Without volunteers, the delivery of meals would be impossible.

If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please call the Cattaraugus County Dept of the Aging at (716) 373-8032 or 1-800-462-2901, or Chris Brehm at the Delevan Home Delivered Meals at 716-492-2543.
