Preview of Countywide Sample Ballot

Sample Ballots are now available for the Nov. 8, 2022 General Election.

There are two countywide propositions on the ballot. The first is approval of the Clean Water, Clean Air, and Green Jobs Environmental Bond Act of 2022. The second is a proposal is A Local Law in Relation to the Reapportionment of the County Legislative Districts of Cattaraugus County, reducing the number of county legislators from 17 to 15. In addition, the Town of Dayton ballot contains three local town propositions, the first expanding the term of the Town Supervisor from two to four years, the second expanding the term of the Town Clerk from two to four years, and the third abolishing the elected highway superintendent position in favor of an appointed highway superintendent.

Local races will take place in City of Olean Wards 1, 3, 5; all five City of Salamanca wards; and the towns of Conewango, Dayton, Farmersville, Humphrey, Ischua, Mansfield, Napoli, Otto, Perrysburg, Persia, Red House and Yorkshire. Individual sample ballots are available for each of these districts. Voters in all other districts may refer to the countywide samples.

Proposal number one, a state proposition

Clean Water, Clean Air, and Green Jobs Environmental Bond Act of 2022

To address and combat the impact of climate change and damage to the environment, the "Clean Water, Clean Air, and Green Jobs Environmental Bond Act of 2022" authorizes the sale of state bonds up to four billion two hundred million dollars to fund environmental protection, natural restoration, resiliency, and dean energy projects. Shall the Environmental Bond Act of 2022 be approved?

Proposal two, county proposition one

Shall Local Law Intro Number 6-2022, entitled A Local Law in Relation to the Reapportionment of the County Legislative Districts of the County of Cattaraugus, Reducing the Number of County Legislators from 17 to 15, Amending Local Law Number 6-1968 (Intro Number 11-1968) Entttled A Local Law Establishing a County Legislature for Cattaraugus County as Required by Order of the New York State Supreme Court and Repealing Local Law Number 6-2011 (Intro Number 6-2011), as enacted by the Cattaraugus County Legislature on July 27, 2022, be approved?
