Cattaraugus County hereby extends the Cattaraugus County State of Emergency which was declared on March 15, 2020 at 12:00 p.m., and thereby extended on April 14, 2020 at 12:00 a.m., and further extended on May 14, 2020 at 12:00 a.m., and further extended on June 13, 2020 at 12:00 a.m., and further extended on July 13, 2020 at 12:00 a.m., and further extended on August 12, 2020 at 12:00 a.m., in response to Coronavirus-19 (COVID-19), which the World Health Organization designated as a world-wide pandemic.

Travel related cases and community contact transmission of COVID-19 have been documented throughout New York State, and of particular concern, there are 196 confirmed cases of COVID-19 within Cattaraugus County to date.

The situation continues to rapidly evolve, and the threat of this virus is imminent to the citizens and visitors of Cattaraugus County. It is necessary that Cattaraugus County be proactive and fully prepared to deal with its effects.

All orders and directives issued pursuant to the March 15, 2020, State of Emergency Declaration; the April 14, 2020, State of Emergency Declaration Extension; the May 14, 2020, State of Emergency Declaration Extension; the June 13, 2020, State of Emergency Declaration Extension; the July 13, 2020, State of Emergency Declaration Extension; and the August 12, 2020, State of Emergency Declaration Extension, shall continue and are hereby
renewed.

Local emergency orders may be enacted subsequent to this declaration to protect life and property or to bring the emergency situation under control.
This State of Emergency Extension will remain in effect for a period not to exceed thirty days or until rescinded, whichever occurs first. This State of Emergency may be extended for additional periods not to exceed thirty days.

This State of Emergency Declaration Extension is hereby effective on September 11, 2020, at 12:00 a.m. and shall remain in effect until 11:59 p.m. on October 10, 2020.

As the Chairman of the Legislature of Cattaraugus County, I, Howard V. VanRensselaer, exercise the authority given me under Article 2-8, Section 24 of the New York State Executive Law, for the purpose of procuring goods and services, and to render all required and available assistance to municipalities and school districts that is vital to the security, well-being, and health and safety of the citizens of Cattaraugus County.
