The Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services is pleased to announce the completion of another successful Summer Youth Employment Program year. This summer, Department of Social Services staff assisted 106 area youth from communities across Cattaraugus County in finding jobs and gaining skills to enter the job market.
The youth, between the ages of 14 and 20, found jobs in a variety of positions. For many, it was their first employment experience. Beyond gaining employment, Department of Social Services staff provided career mentoring in a variety of areas from resume writing and job interview skills to personal hygiene and professional conduct in the work place.
The Cattaraugus County Department of Social Services dedicated staff administers this federally funded program to recruit, train and place youth with participating employers. This summer, 40 employers across the county partnered with DSS to facilitate the program. Over the years, the Summer Youth Employment Program has helped thousands of youth who meet eligibility requirements, find employment and sharpen job and job search skills.
